Baseball Game Preview: Fort Mill Yellow Jackets vs. Proctor Raiders

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets will square off against the Proctor Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fort Mill is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Indian Land, who was ranked fourth at the time (Fort Mill was ranked seventh). The Yellow Jackets came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 10-6 on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Yellow Jackets' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Proctor got the win against Central Valley Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 14-1. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

JAADIEL ROMERO made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). ROMERO was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, KEYTHER CARRASCO and Michael OLIVADOTI did most of the damage at the plate: CARRASCO went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while OLIVADOTI went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fort Mill is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Proctor, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
