Covenant Day won against Providence Day last Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Lions never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.

James Cosper was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Covenant Day got a great performance from Grant Gardner as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Gardner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

Cosper wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brode Dixon, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Covenant Day pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Providence Day, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
