Baseball Recap: Riverside Generals vs. Mandarin Mustangs
Riverside had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it seven. They lost 18-0 to the Mandarin Mustangs. The Generals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.
Riverside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Skipper, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
As for Mandarin, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25, 2025 (when they won 22-2).
On Mandarin's side, Wyatt Sperring looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Mandarin let Samuel Smedley and Jordyn Houston run wild. Smedley went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double, while Houston went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Smedley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cruz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI.
Riverside has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Stanton on the 11th. As for Mandarin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-2 win against Fletcher on the 12th.
