Baseball Recap: Platt Victorious

Platt had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the New Britain Golden Hurricanes on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Golden Hurricanes: they've now won four in a row.

Brandon Candelora made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Candelora wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cioffi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Platt's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for New Britain, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-12.

As of now, neither Platt nor the Golden Hurricanes have any future games scheduled.
