Soccer Game Preview: Orland vs. Gridley

Orland hasn't had much luck against Gridley recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Orland Trojans will square off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Orland is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Orland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let University Prep get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Gridley entered their tilt with Live Oak on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 2-0. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 260th in California, while the Lions are ranked 553rd in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cesar Alvarez and Nolan Weagant scored both of Gridley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Orland pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three contests. As for Gridley, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.
