Soccer Game Preview: Calhoun vs. Wesleyan

The Calhoun Yellow Jackets will head out to face off against the Wesleyan Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Calhoun took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past LaFayette 6-1. Calhoun haven't had any issues with LaFayette recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Wesleyan entered their tilt with Mt. Bethel Christian Academy on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 9-0 shutout. Given Wesleyan's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Mt. Bethel Christian Academy are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wesleyan's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five games. As for Calhoun, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Calhoun suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Wesleyan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Calhoun avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
