Basketball Recap: Miller Place Panthers vs. Kings Park Kingsmen
Miller Place was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-31 loss at the hands of the Kings Park Kingsmen. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-35 back in January.
Miller Place's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Callaghan, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jaleeah Archer, who earned four points along with six blocks and five rebounds.
Kings Park had a senior duo take command as Emily Clemens dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 boards and Gianna Zawol went 7 of 14 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clemens has scored all season. Madison Schultz was another key player, putting up 14 points.
Miller Place's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Kings Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Miller Place will be playing at home against Bayport-Blue Point at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kings Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
