Plano is 0-10 against Morris since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Reapers will be playing at home against the Redskins at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Plano turned things around against Yorkville Christian on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Reapers have posted since April 15th.
Chesney Schimandle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lindsey Cocks, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Morris, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Sycamore 3-2.
Morris also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Mylie Hughes gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Hughes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addy Hackett was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Morris pushed their record up to 20-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Plano, their win bumped their record up to 7-19-1.
Plano might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Morris in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Reapers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
