Basketball Recap: Joshua Aryeetey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kennedy

DMLK's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past the Kennedy Commanders with points to spare, taking the game 66-50. The Panthers pushed the score to 57-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Commanders cut but never quite recovered from.

DMLK's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Aryeetey led the charge by going 8 for 10 on his way to 21 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Deion Turner, who went 8 of 16 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.

Kennedy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Isaac Trujillo, who posted nine points along with five assists and three steals. Trujillo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Anthony Zink was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

The win got DMLK back to even at 4-4. As for Kennedy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

DMLK wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 74-46 defeat against DSST: Conservatory Green on the 14th. As for Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-52 loss against Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy on the 14th.
