Soccer Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 4-2 to the East Mecklenburg Eagles. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Makayla Tindall wasn't going to let East Mecklenburg walk away unscathed as she scored both of Independence's goals, bringing her season total up to four goals.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for East Mecklenburg, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Coming up, Independence will face off against Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Independence will be up against Rocky River's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.2 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for East Mecklenburg, they will venture away from home to challenge Charlotte Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.4 goals per game this season.
