Football Recap: Frederick Comes Up Short

Frederick fell victim to Mead and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Mavericks 28-0. Golden Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Mavericks since Friday.

Despite the loss, Frederick still got an impressive performance from Sonny Delpizzo, who picked up 118 receiving yards, and also rushed for 67 yards. Delpizzo showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 50 yards.

Mead got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Chapala out in front who rushed for 124 yards and two TDs. Ethan Elmore was another key player, throwing for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Frederick's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mead, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Frederick will square off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mead, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
