The Madison Southern Eagles will challenge Great Crossing at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Madison Southern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Madison Southern will bounce into Monday's match after beating Wolfe County, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Eagles walked away with an 8-5 win over the Wolves on Friday.
Kayley Goss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Estep was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexie Keener, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Madison Southern lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wolfe County didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Great Crossing suffered their biggest loss since March 23, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Franklin County, falling 14-7. Great Crossing has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ashtyn Holbrook made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Mullins, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Great Crossing's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-5. As for Madison Southern, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Madison Southern hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Great Crossing struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
