Baseball Recap: Macon County Starts Season with Win Against Livingston Academy

Macon County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Livingston Academy Wildcats 9-0 on Monday. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 10-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

Eli Carver looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Macon County got a massive performance out of Matthew Wheeley, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. What's more, Wheeley posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jake Meador, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Macon County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Livingston Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
