            Basketball Recap: Simla Cubs vs. Salida Spartans        
        
		
        
        
            Simla fought the good fight in their overtime  match against Salida  on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Salida Spartans by a score of  52-50. While the Cubs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans  13-7 in the first  quarter.

 Several Cubs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Anna Kerst, who  went 5 of 11  en route to 11 points along with eight  boards and three  steals. Kerst is also on a roll when it comes to  shooting accuracy, as she's  posted one of at least 45% in the last four games she's  played.  Kylie Maranville was another key player,  putting up six  points in addition to 12  rebounds and five  steals.
  Braeden Johnson continued  her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Salida,  dropping  a double-double on 19 points and 13  boards.
