Soccer Game Preview: Garner vs. Fuquay - Varina

Garner hasn't had much luck against Fuquay - Varina recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will welcome the Bengals at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Garner will bounce into Monday's game after beating Cleveland, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Trojans walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rams on Friday. The game was the first time Garner have beaten Cleveland on their pitch since March 9, 2015.

Lily Ridge and Ava Nobles scored all three of Garner's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Meanwhile, Clayton kept up with Fuquay - Varina until halftime on Thursday, but afterwards: not so much. The Bengals' defense stepped up to hand the Comets a 7-0 shutout. Fuquay - Varina might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Fuquay - Varina is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 56 goals over those 12 games. As for Garner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.
