Preview: Central Golden Eagles vs. West Springfield Terriers
Central is 10-0 against West Springfield since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Central Golden Eagles will get right back to it and host the West Springfield Terriers at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. The timing is sure in Central's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while West Springfield has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Central stacked a third blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Holyoke 75-34 at home. With Central ahead 44-21 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Jai-lyn Garvin-martin was her usual excellent self, shooting 8-for-13 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Angela Hector was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, West Springfield came up short against Holyoke last Tuesday and fell 49-37. That's two games in a row now that West Springfield has lost by exactly 12 points.
Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for West Springfield, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Everything came up roses for Central against West Springfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-34 victory. Does Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Springfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
