Volleyball Recap: Roseau Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Roseau can now relate to. They fell just short of the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Roseau wouldn't go down easily and took Wadena-Deer Creek into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 15-25, 15-7.

Cora Lundbohm paced Roseau's offense, picking up 16 kills. Lundbohm got some help from Audrey Hayden and her 35 assists. Clara Baumgartner controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Roseau's defeat dropped their record down to 24-7. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Wadena-Deer Creek will square off against East Grand Forks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roseau will be paying especially close attention to the Wolverines' contest: after the Wolverines face off against Park Rapids, they'll take on Roseau again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
