Recap: Baker Hornets vs. Fairhope Pirates
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mary G. Montgomery, the Baker Hornets were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Fairhope with a 21-16 win. That's another feather in the cap for Baker, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Josh Flowers went supernova for Baker, rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Flowers hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Roderick Taylor, who rushed for 114 yards.
Although Fairhope took the loss, they still got scores from Tadd Mitchell and Preston Godfrey.
Baker's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fairhope, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Baker will take on Mountain Brook at TBD on Thursday. Mountain Brook is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Fairhope, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Briarwood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Briarwood Christian is ranked 63rd, while Fairhope is ranked 57th).
