Softball Recap: Ballinger Drops Season-High Score on Winters

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ballinger). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Winters Blizzards a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bearcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Jessa Battle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Ava Aguilera also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Ballinger has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Winters has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Ballinger and Winters could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Ballinger (ranked 719th) will meet Cisco (ranked 229th) at 5:00 p.m. on March 28th. Meanwhile, Winters will face off against Bangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 496 places (903 vs. 407).
