Baseball Game Preview: Oakland Patriots vs. Gulliver Prep Raiders

The Oakland Patriots will take on the Gulliver Prep Raiders in a tournament on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Oakland came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-3 to Oxford.

Braxton Greever put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Greever was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Oakland got a good showing from Patrick Freeman, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).

Greever wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Carver, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Gulliver Prep came up short against Riverdale on Tuesday, falling 10-2.

Oakland has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season. Gulliver Prep's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
