After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hopewell, North Mecklenburg was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the West Charlotte Lions 18-8. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Clark made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. North Mecklenburg is undefeated when Clark posts two or more runs, but 1-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, North Mecklenburg got a massive performance out of Aiden Irving, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Irving a new career-high. Ran Diaz also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

North Mecklenburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got North Mecklenburg back to even at 10-10. As for West Charlotte, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

North Mecklenburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
