Recap: Carvers Bay Bears vs. Lake View Wild Gators
If the Carvers Bay Bears were feeling good off their 74-14 takedown of the Georgetown Bulldogs on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Carvers Bay fell just short of Lake View by a score of 38-36. Carvers Bay has not had much luck with Lake View recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Carvers Bay's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jurnee Blye, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was D'Essence Graham, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Lake View got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaleya Ford out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The game was Ford's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Gwendasia Page was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Carvers Bay has fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Lake View, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carvers Bay will square off against Georgetown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Georgetown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Friday. As for Lake View, they will head out on the road to face off against South Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for South Columbus: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Lake View has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
