Basketball Recap: King Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact King can now relate to. They lost 61-35 to the Phillips Wildcats on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Wildcats are ranked 44th).

Nila Wills was nothing short of spectacular for Phillips: she dropped a double-double with 21 points and 28 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wills a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamaria Sephus, who posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

King's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Phillips, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.

As of now, neither King nor Phillips have any future games scheduled.
