Baseball Recap: St. Bernard Comes Up Short

St. Bernard lost against East Lyme on April 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Saints took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Johnny Lazarou made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of St. Bernard's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Nick DeMarco also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

St. Bernard's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for East Lyme, their record now sits at 7-2.

When St. Bernard and East Lyme next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Saints will try to stop Norwich Free Academy's five-game winning streak when they meet at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Lyme will square off against South Kingstown and their three-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.7, the Rebels 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
