Football Game Preview: Harbor Pirates vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

The Harbor Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Harbor has struggled recently with 14 defeats in a row, while Santa Cruz will arrive with four straight victories.

Harbor came up short against Marina on Friday, falling 42-22. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly 20 points.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Andres Martinez, who threw for 200 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Malik Wooden was another key receiver, picking up 99 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Santa Cruz against Rancho San Juan on Friday as the team secured a 35-7 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Harbor's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Santa Cruz, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Harbor couldn't quite get it done against Santa Cruz in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 35-28. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
