Basketball Game Preview: Mora Mustangs vs. Pequot Lakes Patriots

The Mora Mustangs will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Pequot Lakes Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pequot Lakes is hoping to do what Milaca couldn't on Thursday: put an end to Mora's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Mora blew past Milaca 96-66. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Wolves are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pequot Lakes). They breezed by Grand Rapids to the tune of 83-34 on Friday. The Patriots' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Pequot Lakes' win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Mora, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Mora was taken down by Pequot Lakes 72-44 in their previous meeting back in February. Can Mora avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
