            Softball Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. South Williamsport Mountaineers        
        
		
        
        
            Athens faced South Williamsport in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Wildcats never let the Mountaineers get on the board and left with  a   3-0  victory. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Wildcats.

Not much got past  Gretchan Hiley, who gave up just  two  hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep South Williamsport off the board. Hiley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than eight  strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Athens' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Maddie Hiley, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI.  Jules Pack also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
Athens' victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for South Williamsport, their loss  ended  an  eight-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 12-5.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will take on Wellsboro at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for South Williamsport, they will be playing at home against Mifflinburg  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
