Baseball Recap: Somers Beats Cheney Tech for Their Third Straight Win

Somers extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 3-2 in the process. They beat the Cheney Tech Chargers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-4. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Will Accorsi was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Justin Czerwinski also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Somers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in three consecutive games.

As for Cheney Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3. They have struggled against Somers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

On Cheney Tech's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Milvae, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somers will face off against Coventry at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cheney Tech, they will square off against Norwich RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
