Baseball Recap: Dryden Find Success

Dryden let Kingston stack six runs on them in the second inning on Thursday but luckily Dryden prevailed anyway. Dryden skirted past Kingston 9-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 on Thursday.

Ian Tresnek and Owen Gall did most of the damage at the plate: Tresnek went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Gall went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Tresnek has become a key player for Dryden: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Santi Perales, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Dryden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Dryden and bumps their season record up to 3-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Kingston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dryden will face off against Akron-Fairgrove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.86 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kingston, they will take on All Saints Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
