Football Game Preview: LBJ Austin Jaguars vs. Eastside Early College Panthers

LBJ Austin has gone a perfect 3-0 against Eastside Early College recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Jaguars will welcome the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. LBJ Austin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Eastside Early College likes a good challenge.

On Friday, everything came up roses for LBJ Austin against Taylor as the team secured a 49-14 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 33 points or more this season.

LBJ Austin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marquis Murry II, who rushed for 207 yards and one score while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Those 207 rushing yards gave Murry II a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Jayelen House, who threw for 201 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes.

LBJ Austin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Antione Baker, Derek Mendez, and Kayden Lewis picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Taylor's side was Trevin Candeh, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Eastside Early College entered their matchup against Taylor last Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Panthers were beaten by the Ducks 46-12. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

LBJ Austin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Eastside Early College, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
