Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Tupelo's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Tupelo took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Varnum, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers came out on top against the Whippets on Tuesday by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered an 11-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Tupelo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Varnum, they moved to 20-6 with that defeat, which also ended their 14-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Tupelo will take on Caddo in a tournament on Thursday. The Bruins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Varnum, they will face off against Dewar at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their 26th straight win, something the Whippets surely won't give up without a fight.
