League recap: Utica Eisenhower climbs in state rankings with win

Utica Eisenhower moved up to 37 from 66 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Macomb Area - Red. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of beating Utica Stevenson 23-16.

Dakota extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Chippewa Valley, 17-13. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

The Titans' dynamic duo of Kyle Maxson and Tyler Sykes proved tough for Utica Eisenhower to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Maxson threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns and Sykes had 74 yards receiving. Robert Thompson helped Utica Stevenson's passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.

Richmon Render provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Dakota beat the Big Reds. He completed seven passes for 129 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 36 yards. Render's favorite target this week was Matthew Crossley, who caught one pass for 51 yards.

Shane King was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 137 yards on 23 carries as Chris Smith's team fell to Chris Smith's team. Grant Davis also contributed to the rushing game with 56 yards on the ground.

Utica Stevenson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Titans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Maxson has thrown for 1245 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Sykes has 18 catches for 508 yards. Trevon Bauch leads the league in rushing with 703 yards.

The Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,586 from 2,307. The advance stemmed from a 23-16 victory over Steve Goralski's team last week.
