Softball Recap: Pittston Comes Up Short

Pittston lost against Tunkhannock back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Patriots lost 19-7 to the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered since April 9th.

Marina Antal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gabby Roman, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Pittston and nudges their season record down to 7-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Dallas (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83% over those games). As for Tunkhannock, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

Coming up, Pittston will be playing at home against Dallas at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Mountaineers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tunkhannock, they are taking a road trip to square off against Jersey Shore at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
