Baseball Recap: Poth Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Poth's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Stockdale Brahmas. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 back in March.

Austin Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Braden Arruda, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Major Luna was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Poth pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Stockdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12-1 record this season.

Poth will be playing at home against Luling at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Stockdale, they will venture away from home to face off against Goliad at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Brahmas' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
