Basketball Game Preview: New Braunfels Unicorns vs. Boerne Greyhounds

The New Braunfels Unicorns will head out to square off against the Boerne Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Braunfels will be strutting in after a victory while Boerne will be coming in after a defeat.

New Braunfels took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 52-40 win over Alamo Heights.

Ryler Wilson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Yaniska Mestre, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Meanwhile, Boerne unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pieper.

New Braunfels is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-17 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Boerne, their loss dropped their record down to 19-12.

New Braunfels opened the new year with a less-than-successful 37-29 defeat to Boerne. Can New Braunfels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
