Baseball Recap: Normandy Takes a Loss

Normandy dropped their record down to 9-14 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Olmsted Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Invaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Normandy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Montgomery, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for North Olmsted, their record now sits at 7-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 4, 2024.

On North Olmsted's side, Tyler Zatta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. Zatta also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Eagles are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Darren Krider, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Anthony DAlessandro was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Coming up, Normandy will challenge Medina Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Olmsted will be paying especially close attention to the Invaders' contest: after the Invaders face off against the Knights, they'll take on North Olmsted again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
