Basketball Game Preview: Alisal Trojans vs. Hollister Haybalers

The Alisal Trojans and the Hollister Haybalers will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Alisal had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 30-point drubbing they dealt Liberty Baptist on Thursday. The Trojans breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 74-44. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-24.

Alisal got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaren Dimaano out in front who shot 67% from the field to rack up 21 points. Those 21 points gave Dimaano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Lopez, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Alisal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Hollister was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Greenfield 77-48.

Alisal now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hollister, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Alisal came up short against Hollister in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 55-47. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
