Chase McBrearty tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carson Lietz, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Cunningham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, while Melbourne Central Catholic put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Palm Bay. Melbourne Central Catholic put the hurt on Palm Bay with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hustlers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Thomas Chiuchiolo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Melbourne Central Catholic is 6-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Chiuchiolo was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Levi Rollinger was incredible, going 1-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Collin O'Connell, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Melbourne Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Eau Gallie's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eau Gallie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Melbourne Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts.
