The 14th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard passed through Pennsylvania on Thursday, February 7 to recognize
Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, Pa.) High School and its football team for winning a state championship and earning a high national ranking.

Having upended Wilmington Area 49-14 in the
PIAA Class 2A state championship contest, the 16-0 Tigers claimed their third state football title in four years, the ninth overall, and earned the No. 199 ranking in
MaxPreps' National Rankings!
MaxPreps and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard were on hand to celebrate Tiger Football for the second year in a row at a school wide assembly in the auditorium. MaxPreps representative Matt Vecchione kicked off the celebration by welcoming the crowd and recounting Tiger state championship accomplishments as the football team and cheerleaders gathered at the front of the auditorium.
After finishing his portion of the rally, Vecchione turned the presentation over to Staff Sergeant Leslie Morris of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, who spoke briefly about the strength of the Tigers and how they mirror the attributes of being a soldier in the Army National Guard. SSG Morris then presented head coach Jim Roth and the Tigers with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy.
Roth was honored to receive another trophy and is proud of his program's performance over the years. The 35-year coach remarked about the commitment and dedication of the Tigers, who are one of only 50 football programs nationally to receive an invitation to this year's TOC. Thanks to everyone at Southern Columbia Area High School who made this another great trophy presentation on the 2018-19 MaxPreps Tour of Champions!
