Meanwhile, Covenant School of Jacksonville won against Ribault on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Covenant School of Jacksonville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Old Plank Christian Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Ryne Fennell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Fennell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
Fennell wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Javien Strobridge, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies' win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 8.75 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Paxon School For Advanced Studies has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Covenant School of Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've averaged .471.
