Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Shaw Eagles vs. Willow Lions

Archbishop Shaw is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Willow a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Archbishop Shaw Eagles will host the Willow Lions at 6:30 p.m. The last five games Archbishop Shaw has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Archbishop Shaw's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, sneaking past 2-0. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly two runs.

The result came thanks to Dalton Davidson's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Steven Houin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Willow duked it out with St. James on Friday. Willow fell just short of St. James by a score of 5-4.

Willow saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex St. Amant, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that St. Amant hit this season.

Archbishop Shaw is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. Willow's loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
