Basketball Game Preview: Panama Panthers vs. Clymer Central Pirates

Two dominant guards in Carter Brink and Carson White are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Panama Panthers will take on the Clymer Central Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Panama knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Clymer Central likes a good challenge.

If Panama beats Clymer Central with 97 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Panama put the hurt on Gowanda with a sharp 97-76 victory on Wednesday. Given Panama's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Gowanda is ranked 554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Brink, who posted 30 points along with five assists and five steals. His evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alex Barmore, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 boards.

Meanwhile, Clymer Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 58-53 to Sherman. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Panama will need focus on slowing down Kameron Einink, one of several Clymer Central players who made an impact when they last played. He had 13 points and seven assists. Roman Wassink was another key player, going 7 for 8 on his way to 14 points.

Brink wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Clymer Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Panama pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Clymer Central, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Everything came up roses for Panama against Clymer Central in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 68-32 victory. In that game, Panama amassed a halftime lead of 38-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
