Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. Paul VI Panthers

Archbishop Carroll is 0-10 against Paul VI since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Archbishop Carroll Lions are on the road again and plays the Paul VI Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Archbishop Carroll's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.

Last Saturday, Archbishop Carroll faced St. John's in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Archbishop Carroll fell 62-55 to St. John's. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Despite the defeat, Archbishop Carroll saw an underclassman step up: Nyair McCoy scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals. McCoy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Paul VI entered their tilt with Bishop Ireton with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Paul VI came out on top against Bishop Ireton by a score of 60-52 on Monday.

Archbishop Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Paul VI, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Archbishop Carroll couldn't quite finish off Paul VI when the teams last played back in January and fell 55-52. Can Archbishop Carroll avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
