Volleyball Recap: Scott City Comes Up Short

If Scott City was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of East Prairie on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rams fell 3-1 to the Meadow Heights Panthers on Thursday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Scott City started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Scott City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brionna Woodside had eight digs. Woodside also put up an ace, which was her first of the season.

Scott City has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19-1 record this season. As for Meadow Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 20-9.

Scott City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Saxony Lutheran on the 16th. As for Meadow Heights, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against St. Paul Lutheran on the 17th.
