Basketball Recap: Lejeune Takes a Loss

Lejeune lost against Swansboro back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Devilpups took a blow against the Pirates, falling 75-44.

Despite the defeat, Lejeune saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maurice Thomas posted 22 points.

Swansboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor May led the charge by shooting 69% from the field to rack up 24 points. Another player making a difference was JJ Johnson, who made all 6 shots he took to post 13 points and five steals.

Lejeune's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Swansboro, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Lejeune has already played their next contest, a 61-59 defeat against Lakewood on the 3rd. As for Swansboro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-64 win against White Oak on the 25th.
