The Wahkiakum Mules will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on the Naselle Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Wahkiakum is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after opening their season on the road. They took a blow against Neah Bay on Saturday, falling 78-24.
Wahkiakum's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Stoddard, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns, and Parker Leitz, who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards.
Meanwhile, Naselle took their matchup on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 66-30 victory over Darrington. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Comets just coasted through the last quarter.
Jack Strange was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 292 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Lindstrom, who threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes.
