Geneseo and Moline are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Maple Leafs will host the Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Moline will be up against a hot Geneseo team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Maple Leafs never let Galesburg get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. The Maple Leafs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Lydia King and Kendyl Wassenhove made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, King tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wassenhove pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave King a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, King scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Wassenhove went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Avery Kennedy was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Johnson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Geneseo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Moline got the win against Alleman on Thursday by a conclusive 8-2.
Kayley Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Young, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Dennis, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Geneseo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Moline, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Moline's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Geneseo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Moline, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Geneseo's hitters?
Geneseo took their victory against Moline when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-6 score. Will the Maple Leafs repeat their success, or do the Maroons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
