Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Burges Mustangs

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will be taking part in a tournament against the Burges Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Burges took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mountain View, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 17 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Mountain View turned things around against Tombstone on Thursday. They never let the Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

Not much got past Easton Granger, who gave up just four hits to keep Tombstone off the board. Furthermore, Granger didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zane Giron, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Burges was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-2 to Empire. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly ten runs.

Burges' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-2. As for Mountain View, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Mountain View came up short against Burges in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 7-2. Can Mountain View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
