Harmony hasn't had much luck against Viera recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Longhorns will be playing at home against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Harmony is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Harmony turned things around against Tohopekaliga on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Longhorns have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hailey Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Harmony let Emerson Aslan and Nicole Yi run wild. Aslan got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Yi went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Yi has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Carpenter, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Harmony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Viera was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 18-3 to Eau Gallie. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered against the Commodores since February 22, 2022.
Viera saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Rider, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Harmony's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Viera, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Harmony hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Viera struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Harmony might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Viera in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Will the Longhorns have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
