Football Game Preview: Springtown Porcupines vs. Carter-Riverside Eagles + How To Watch

The Springtown Porcupines will challenge the Carter-Riverside Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springtown will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

On Thursday, everything came up roses for Springtown against Southwest as the team secured a 49-20 victory. Fans of the Porcupines have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Kaine Hill was his usual excellent self, throwing for 168 yards and three TDs on only 15 passes, while also rushing for 55 yards and one touchdown. Christian Mendoza was Hill's top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was Springtown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Luis Lazcano and Kasen Beaman, who racked up all five sacks between them. With that strong performance, Beaman is now averaging an impressive 6.6 total tackles per game. Another thorn in Southwest's side was Rome Ewell, who made 19 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Carter-Riverside's offense. They had to suffer through a 68-0 loss at the hands of Decatur. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, Carter-Riverside's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Springtown's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Carter-Riverside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Springtown has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Carter-Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 280.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Springtown against Carter-Riverside in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-0 victory. Will the Porcupines repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
